My goal is to provide outstanding, customized services to students with speech and language deficits or learning differences, equip parents through consultative services and offer professional training.
Welcome to E.R. Speech!
I am passionate about my work. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I have the honor of helping clients meet their speech, communication, and reading goals. Having been in the field for over twenty five years, I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference. A graduate of Loyola University and the George Washington University, I have over twenty five years experience utilizing best practice, evidence based approaches with creativity and compassion. Whole brain integration and rewiring pathways in the brain thrill me. Certified in Visualizing and Verbalizing for Thinking and Comprehension, Social Thinking, and Bowman's Orton Gillingham "Plus" program, to name a few.

Speech and Language Disorders including Language Based Learning Differences can be complicated and have a significant educational impact. Understanding the hierarchy of language processing, phonemic awareness, receptive, expressive and pragmatic language is crucial in recommending appropriate services, placement, goals, and accommodations. Professional consultation may consist of gathering background history, conducting a file review, colloborating with other team members, observing the student in the classroom, providing feedback and recommendations or participating in Individualzed Educational Program (IEP) meetings.
A complete Speech Language Evaluation includes standardized and clinical assessment of receptive, expressive, pragmatic language, articulation, and voice. In addition, an evaluation can include standardized and clinical measurement of phonemic awareness, decoding, reading comprehension, written expression, spelling, and oral fluency.
Individual therapy is provided to meet speech, language, literacy and written expression goals utilizing evidence based, best practices while building confidence in a fun, upbeat and nurturing environment. Length and frequency of weekly sessions depend on the individual’s needs and diagnosis. Each session is 50 minutes, unless shorter sessions are recommended for younger students.
Orton Gillingham is a multisensory, systematic approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling skills. Bowman's Orton-Gillingham "Plus" is an intensive, systematic, program that combines the Orton Gillingham multisensory approach with phonemic awareness and reading fluency training. Services require one on one instruction and work exceptionally well in tandem with other speech-language goals. (Such as building phonemic awareness, auditory processing and discrimination, articulation, and memory.)
